Necro's Snake Fang to db.HP x6 vs Alex: A Damage Deep Dive
Hey everyone! Following up on a viewer question from the Necro Compendium channel regarding using Necro's db.HP x6 on Alex after an LK Snake Fang in Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. I had planned to test this in a video but forgot – my bad!
However, I've run the tests since then, and here's the breakdown.
Snake Fang x Raw db.HP: The Data
The core question was about the damage output and potential reduction. Let's look at the numbers:
As the table shows, we analyzed the hits, combo damage, raw damage (damage if the hit wasn't scaled), and the scaling value for various follow-ups after LK Snake Fang, primarily focusing on repeated db.HP (Down-Back + Heavy Punch).
Note: The damage in brackets [19] next to the first hit (LK Snake Fang) represents the damage it would deal against Alex if it counted as the first hit of a combo (raw damage).
Is the db.HP x6 Follow-Up Still Worth It?
Yes, I can confirm there is indeed a small damage reduction when using multiple db.HPs due to damage scaling, especially noticeable by the time you reach db.HP x6.
Despite this minor reduction, the overall damage inflicted by the sequence remains significant. Therefore, I would still recommend using this combo if the opportunity arises in a match. It's a practical and effective way to convert off an LK Snake Fang.
Additionally, I included a b.MP (Back + Medium Punch) follow-up in the data just for fun and comparison – always good to know your options!
